A major part of college life in Japan is the variety of clubs and interest groups that students participate in. These range from sports such as tennis and soccer to cultural activities such as chorus and drama to traditional Japanese arts like tea ceremony and flower arranging. Tohoku University offers many clubs and “saakuru” (i.e. “circles”) through which international students can make friends and pursue their interests. You can find a list of culturally oriented clubs

Every spring, the clubs and circles conduct recruitment drives to attract new members. These often include on-campus demonstrations of club activities. Here are a few we saw this year.
